Cooking

From the Toddlers through the 6th grade, students are involved in cooking as an enhancement to the curriculum. Cooking is an interactive way of teaching numbers, measurements, group cooperation, task completion, and the enjoyment of creation and sharing.

Cooking is often used to give students a “taste” of a particular country they may be studying.

Cooking may be as simple as the Toddlers preparing bread for their morning snack or as complex as Lower Elementary students preparing their traditional Halloween Stew for their classes and the staff.

In the Elementary years, students are involved in planning, shopping, and preparing special meals and snacks. Upper Elementary students enjoy a home cooked meal prepared by a small group of classmates on a regular basis. These cooking groups take turns researching, planning and executing special lunches.
